Pink Ribbon fundraising for breast cancer research event was held by honourable Minister for Communication, Michelle Rowland MP at the Ponds Community Hub.
The honourable minister has been conducting this event for the last twenty-one years and this time she was successful in collecting nearly three thousand dollars for breast cancer awareness and research.
Professor Nirmala Pathmanathan, director, of Breast Screen NSW Sydney West, rendered a beautiful speech about the advancement of medical facilities in diagnosing and treating breast cancer at a very early stage.
It is an important event for every woman, particularly for the multicultural people in Western Sydney who need to be enlightened on early detection and treatment. It is established by research that 9 in 10 women with breast cancer do not have a family history. Therefore, it is advisable for any woman about 40 to get the breast screening done to avoid a situation that makes it too late to treat.
There are multiple places in Western Suburbs where women can access breast screening clinics by calling 132050.
