Ku-ring-gai community members are invited to play a key role fostering a more inclusive, connected and vibrant future by joining Council’s Multicultural Advisory Committee.
The committee provides a platform for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) residents to share their experiences, insights, and aspirations, ensuring their voices are heard in shaping Council’s initiatives.
Residents of Ku-ring-gai, or individuals representing community organisations that support multicultural communities, are encouraged to nominate.
When selecting members, Council will consider:
- Understanding of the experiences, strengths, and challenges of CALD communities.
- Active participation in local or broader multicultural community initiatives.
- Familiarity with local government services and programs from an inclusivity perspective.
- Ability to contribute to the strategic direction of multicultural engagement.
- Strong community connections and relationships with CALD organisations in Ku-ring-gai.
- Relevant experience and a collaborative approach to advisory committee work.
The committee meets quarterly and plays a vital role in advising on Council programs and policies that impact CALD communities while championing inclusion and equity.
All appointed community members will serve a four-year term, with the flexibility to include additional contributors as needed.
Ku-ring-gai Mayor Christine Kay highlighted the importance of representation on the committee, noting that the 2021 Census found that over 40% of Ku-ring-gai’s residents were born overseas.
“Since its establishment in 2022, this Committee has been instrumental in strengthening our approach to inclusion, and we welcome new voices to continue shaping Ku-ring-gai’s future,” Mayor Kay said.
