Karm Isharsar Sewa ,Simran Society (Rara Sahib) and the Punjab Council of Australia organised the “Safar-e-Shahadat” event at the Victorian Parliament to honour the supreme sacrifice of the Sahibzade. The programme included heartfelt poems, ballads and reflections by children, along with special recognition of students excelling in sports at state, national and international levels.

Members of Parliament Evan Walter, Luba Grigorovitch and Steve McGhie attended the event, alongside Deputy Mayor Teli Kaur (ARCC), Councillor Shivali Chatley (Bendigo),and Amar Singh (Turbans 4 Australia). All dignitaries paid homage to Guru Sahib and the Sahibzade, acknowledging Sikh history as a legacy of bravery, truth and service to humanity.

Students from Punjabi Folk Theatre & Folk Academy and Khalsa School Geelong delivered impressive presentations, showcasing how strongly the new generation – born and raised overseas – remains connected to their heritage. A Sikh history art exhibition by Simranjeet Singh was also featured.

India’s first Hockey Olympian Harpreet Shergill, along with several accomplished young athletes, was specially honoured. The event was hosted by Maninder Brar.

The programme successfully strengthened the bond between the young generation and Sikh history, reaffirming that the sacrifice of the Sahibzade continues to inspire humanity forever.
