The Indo Australian Welfare Club (Regd) celebrated Lohri in Mickleham with great enthusiasm, cultural pride and a strong sense of togetherness, bringing the Indo-Australian community together for an evening rooted in tradition and unity.

More than 250 community members attended the celebration, creating a vibrant and joyful atmosphere. The event beautifully highlighted Punjabi culture through energetic Giddha and Bhangra performances, soulful Punjabi poetry, and engaging presentations by children, all of which were warmly received by the audience.

The celebration was further honoured by the presence of the Chief Guest, Ally Watson, whose attendance added grace and encouragement to the occasion. Her participation reflected the importance of multicultural gatherings in strengthening community connections across Victoria.

Adding special cultural significance to the evening was Swaran Singh Channi, a renowned Bhangra coach from Mohali. His presence brought inspiration and authenticity, enriching the cultural experience for performers and attendees alike.

The organisers extended heartfelt congratulations to Davinder Pal Singh Chahal, Harpreet Chahal, Mrs Chahal, Sukhdev Singh, Harbans Singh Billing, Jasmer Singh, Vijay Kumar Jyoti, and the entire organising team for their dedication, teamwork and commitment in making the event a grand success.

The Lohri celebration truly reflected the festival’s spirit of gratitude, unity and cultural heritage.
