The Queensland Government has launched Operation Forge, a major statewide policing initiative designed to reduce break-ins, robberies and stolen vehicles across the state. The high-visibility operation commenced on Friday, February 27, 2026, and aims to cut the number of victims of crime while strengthening community safety.

Operation Forge is being led by the Queensland Police Service (QPS) with coordinated efforts from district officers, including specialist units such as the Criminal Investigation Branch, the Child Protection and Investigation Unit and tactical crime squads. The operation is backed by enhanced resources and support to increase police visibility and disruption of criminal activity.
Senior specialist assets are also being deployed to assist frontline teams. These include POLAIR aerial support, forensic services, surveillance operations and the Digital Intelligence Community Engagement Team, all working together to gather evidence, monitor trends and respond quickly to offences linked to property crime and theft.

The Queensland Government says Operation Forge builds on recent progress in reducing crime, noting that the number of victims of crime in 2025 fell by 7.2 per cent compared with the previous year. Authorities also report a 17 per cent reduction in serious repeat offenders over the past year, showing continued improvements in public safety.
Officials emphasize that the statewide crackdown is focused on targeting high-risk and prolific offenders who are believed to cause the greatest harm in local communities. By disrupting repeat criminal behavior, the operation is expected to reduce the overall impact of property crime on everyday Queenslanders.

Police and government leaders say this enhanced approach to crime prevention reflects a commitment to restoring safety where people live, work and travel. The coordinated strategy aims to make communities safer by combining visible policing with intelligence-led investigations and proactive responses across both urban and regional districts.
As Operation Forge continues, residents may notice increased police presence and engagement efforts within their local areas. Authorities say this visibility is designed both to deter criminal activity and to reassure the public that crime prevention remains a key priority.
