The suburbs of Western Sydney are set to come alive as the Blacktown City Council unveils a vibrant lineup for the 2026 Blacktown City Festival, featuring 18 exciting events throughout May that promise entertainment for all ages.

A long-standing community favourite for over five decades, the festival has grown into one of the largest cultural celebrations in the region, bringing together music, food, performances and family-friendly experiences that reflect the diversity of Blacktown.

Mayor Brad Bunting highlighted the importance of the festival in celebrating local identity, noting how it continues to bring the community together through live and local entertainment.

A Month-Long Celebration Begins

The festival kicks off on Sunday 3 May with Vibes by the Lake at Nurragingy Reserve, Doonside – a relaxed, picnic-style event where visitors can enjoy soul, funk and reggae music by the water in a scenic outdoor setting.

From there, the program unfolds into a diverse mix of events catering to different interests, from comedy and culture to food and family entertainment.

Highlights from the 2026 Program

Comedy lovers can look forward to the Blacktown Festival Comedy Night on 8 May at Blacktown Workers Club, featuring well-known performers including Joe Avati alongside a strong supporting lineup.

The much-loved Blacktown City Medieval Fayre returns on 16 and 17 May at Nurragingy Reserve, offering a unique step back in time with knights, traditional crafts and immersive historical displays.

Food enthusiasts can indulge at the Sweet Indulgence Dessert Festival on 22 May, where the Village Green transforms into a vibrant hub of sweet treats and live entertainment in the heart of Blacktown.

For those feeling nostalgic, the 90s Bingo Party on 23 May promises a lively, interactive experience filled with music, humour and throwback fun.

Music takes centre stage again at Swingin’ Sounds on 24 May at Blacktown Showground, where visitors can relax with a picnic while enjoying timeless classics performed by big band artists.

Families are in for a treat with the Kids Concert on 27 May at Bowman Hall, featuring the beloved Peppa Pig, bringing games, songs and interactive fun for younger audiences.

The festival will culminate on 30 May with the iconic Streets Alive and Parade Day, where Blacktown city centre transforms into a lively celebration with multiple stages, rides, stalls and a colourful community parade.

Celebrating History and Community

Adding a reflective touch to the festivities, the Blacktown and District Historical Society will mark 50 years with a month-long exhibition at Max Webber Library, showcasing the rich history and evolution of the region through archival photography.
