The launch took place on Sunday, 18 October 2026, at Grand Royale in Granville, bringing together dignitaries, community leaders, business professionals and supporters committed to helping communities affected by natural disasters.

The fundraising achievement was one of the evening’s highlights, demonstrating the collective generosity of attendees and their willingness to support families experiencing hardship following devastating floods in Nepal.

Although AFDR’s long-term mission focuses on supporting communities across Australia, the Foundation marked its launch with a special, one-off Nepal Flood Relief Initiative to express solidarity with those affected by the disaster.

Building Disaster Preparedness and Community Resilience

AFDR has been established to strengthen disaster preparedness, provide timely assistance, support recovery and rebuilding, and contribute to long-term community resilience across Australia.

By combining community support, experienced leadership and a focus on preparedness, the Foundation aims to help strengthen the ability of Australian communities to respond to future disasters.

The organisation’s launch message captures its central philosophy: “Disasters may be unpredictable, but our preparedness, compassion and willingness to stand together need not be.”
