When Aryan Khan walked on stage alongside his father Shah Rukh Khan to present a preview of his directorial debut The Ba*ds of Bollywood, the atmosphere was electric. It wasn’t just another Netflix launch, it was a moment that symbolised the passing of a creative torch from one generation to the next.

Set to premiere on September 18, the series has been produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and co-created by Aryan with Bilal Siddiqi and Manav Chauhan. From the first look, the show promises to be anything but conventional. Witty, chaotic, and sharply self-aware, The Ba*ds of Bollywood explores ambition in its rawest form, asking what people are willing to risk for their dreams, and whether survival is even possible in a world where egos collide and nothing is quite what it seems.

A Bold Vision
For Aryan, the project is personal. “I wanted to build a world that feels alive, a mix of glitz and grit,” he explained at the preview. “It’s raw, stylised, and hopefully unlike anything audiences have experienced before.”

The audience also witnessed Shah Rukh Khan introducing the cast in his trademark humorous style, drawing cheers as names like Bobby Deol, Lakshya, Sahher Bambba, Manoj Pahwa, Mona Singh, and Raghav Juyal were revealed. Each actor spoke about the no-filter energy of the series, which has already set expectations high.

The Legacy Continues
This collaboration marks the sixth project between Netflix and Red Chillies Entertainment, but it may be their boldest yet. Shah Rukh Khan, visibly proud, described the series as storytelling with “clarity and edge,” while Netflix’s Monika Shergill called it “a roast-and-toast to Bollywood—witty, bold, and filled with love, drama, and ambition.”

The Soundtrack of a New Era
No Bollywood-inspired series is complete without music, and The Ba*ds of Bollywood is backed by a powerhouse lineup. The score is composed by Shashwat Sachdev, with contributions from Anirudh Ravichander and Ujwal Gupta under the T-Series label. The music, like the show itself, is expected to reflect a mix of energy, grit, and playfulness.

With Aryan Khan at the helm and Shah Rukh Khan cheering from the wings, The Ba*ds of Bollywood isn’t just a series, it’s a statement. A new voice has arrived, one that is bold enough to poke fun at Bollywood while celebrating its drama and ambition. Come September 18, the spotlight is firmly on Aryan.
