The MAHATMA Peace Anthem underscores the timeless global relevance of kindness, truth, equality, and inter-faith solidarity – ideals that resonate far beyond borders
Sydney, 15th August, 2025 – As India celebrates its 79th Independence Day, Australian-Indian actor, singer, and philanthropist, Saroni Roy has launched the MAHATMA Peace Symposium – Official Peace Anthem. A tribute to the peace icon Mahatma Gandhi this song was performed live at the MAHATMA Peace Symposium (MPS) — Saroni Roy Foundation SRf’s annual flagship Global Peacebuilders Forum and Cultural Diversity Collective for dialogue, innovation, and action. Rooted in Gandhian values of social action, justice, real development and peace through Satyagraha, Sarvodaya, and Swaraj, the anthem embodies SRf’s core pillars of Diversity, Sustainability & Social Justice, to inspire a more peaceful and inclusive “One World” to live and love.
The peace anthem features a recital and Mahatma Gandhi’s favourite songs Vaishnav Jan To (Gujarati), Raghupati Raghav (Hindi), and Ekla Cholo (Bengali) showcasing Australia-India Culturally and Linguistically Diverse artists’ collaboration. Saroni worked remotely along with leading musicians and studios based in Kolkata, Mumbai and Sydney, to curate this piece of art, ensconced in the Gandhian values of Ahimsa, courage, determination, solidarity, harmony and peace, calling for humanity, kindness, truth, equality, and inter-faith unity in a conflict-ridden world.
