Australia’s largest-ever federal election is officially underway, with the Australian Electoral Commissioner Jeff Pope declaring the AEC ready to deliver a historic democratic event. With more voters, venues, and staff involved than ever before, the 2025 federal election is set to be a landmark moment in the nation’s electoral history.
“There are more voters on the roll than ever before, and we’ll have more voting venues – both in Australia and overseas – plus enhanced accessibility,” said Mr Pope. “We’re ready to go. You also need to be ready – check your enrolment and consider working with us.”

🗳️ Enrolment & Voting
Enrolment closes at 8pm local time on Monday, 7 April 2025. Voting is compulsory for all Australians aged 18 and over. Enrolment can be completed or updated online in minutes at aec.gov.au. The electoral roll is already at a record 97.8% completeness, and this number is expected to rise further.
For those unable to attend polling places, postal voting applications are now open. With over 2.5 million expected to vote by post, early applications are encouraged—especially for regional voters.
