The Opposition Leader also pointed to the importance of cooperation between like-minded nations at a time when geopolitical challenges continue to evolve. He said Australia and India have a shared responsibility to uphold freedom, democratic values and regional stability across the Indo-Pacific.

Economic cooperation was another key theme of the statement. Taylor noted that both countries are open trading nations focused on creating greater prosperity and opportunity for their citizens. The Australia-India relationship has expanded significantly in recent years across trade, investment, education and technology sectors.

He described the cultural and people-to-people connections between the two nations as an important foundation of the partnership. Australia is home to a large and growing Indian diaspora, which continues to play a significant role in strengthening social, cultural and economic links between the countries.

Taylor also acknowledged the significance of Prime Minister Modi’s visit for Australians of Indian heritage. He said many members of the community view the visit as a special occasion that reflects the growing importance of the Australia-India relationship and the contributions of Indian Australians to the nation.
