Sydney’s newest running event, the Parramatta Half Marathon, has officially unveiled its race course, finisher medal and shirt design, building excitement ahead of its inaugural edition on 21 June 2026. The announcement was made at a special event held at Parramatta Town Hall, giving runners their first look at what’s to come.

The 21.1-kilometre course will take participants on a scenic journey through some of Parramatta’s most iconic locations. Starting on O’Connell Street, runners will move through Parramatta Park, pass through the city centre and Parramatta Square, before continuing along the river foreshore.

In a unique highlight for Sydney’s running scene, the race will conclude with a stadium finish inside CommBank Stadium. It will be the first running event ever hosted at the venue and the only race in the city to offer a finish line experience inside a major stadium.

The course has been officially measured and certified, ensuring it meets professional standards for both competitive runners and those aiming to achieve personal best times. Organisers say the design offers a balance of performance and scenic appeal, making it suitable for elite athletes and everyday runners alike.

Interest in the event has been strong, with more than 7,000 runners already registered and the race now 85 per cent sold out. With limited spots remaining, organisers are encouraging participants to secure their place soon ahead of what is expected to be a sell-out debut event.

Martin Zaiter said the event marks a significant moment for the city, showcasing Parramatta’s landmarks, streets and riverfront to a wide audience. He added that runners will be rewarded with exclusive medals and race shirts as they cross the finish line.

Meanwhile, Joshua French highlighted the opportunity to showcase the beauty and heritage of Parramatta Park. He noted that thousands of participants will experience one of Sydney’s most historic green spaces as part of the race.

With its unique course, strong community backing and stadium finish, the Parramatta Half Marathon is shaping up to become a standout addition to Sydney’s sporting calendar and a major event for runners across Australia.
