One of Parramatta’s largest sporting spaces is preparing for a major transformation, with Doyle Ground set to receive a multimillion-dollar upgrade. The project will enhance the existing sports facilities while creating improved recreational areas for families, athletes and local residents to enjoy for years to come.

The upgrade will focus on modernising the sports fields and adding new synthetic cricket wickets, along with solar-powered lighting along the circuit walking path. Community-friendly improvements such as seating and outdoor furniture will also be installed, creating a more welcoming environment for both sporting activities and everyday recreation.
Doyle Ground is one of seven key open spaces included in the Heart of Play Master Plan, an initiative aimed at developing a connected network of sporting and recreational facilities across North Parramatta. Residents are now being encouraged to share their feedback on the proposed upgrades as planning moves forward.
According to Martin Zaiter, the improvements are an important investment for the community as the region continues to grow. He said modern and well-maintained open spaces are essential for supporting local families, sports clubs and community groups who regularly use Doyle Ground for training, matches and recreational activities.
The Lord Mayor also emphasised that the goal is to deliver a high-quality sporting venue capable of hosting multiple sports, ensuring the facility continues to meet the needs of Parramatta’s expanding population. With participation in community sport rising, upgraded infrastructure will help support the city’s future sporting demands.
The first stage of the project carries an estimated value of $9.5 million, funded jointly by the City of Parramatta Council and the NSW Government through the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grant Program. Construction for Stage 1 is expected to begin in 2026.
Planning is already underway for Stage 2 of the redevelopment. Future works are expected to include the design and construction of a new sports pavilion, dedicated cricket training nets and additional parking spaces to better support visitors attending matches and community events.
Once completed, the upgrades aim to transform Doyle Ground into a modern sporting and recreation hub for Parramatta, ensuring local residents have access to high-quality open spaces where sport, community activities and outdoor recreation can thrive.
