The Hills community is set to enjoy even more open space, with seven hectares of land being
transferred from the NSW Government to The Hills Shire Council.
The Caddies Creek Stage 2 land delivers additional green space for one of Sydney’s fastest growing
areas, aligning with new housing and infrastructure development.
The land, located between Windsor Road, Old Windsor Road, and Sanctuary Drive will help deliver
more open space, including new soccer fields.
While the Minns Government continues to address the urgent need for more homes to
accommodate Sydney’s growing population, it also recognises the need for open space to be
delivered alongside it.
Green spaces are essential for building better communities that have somewhere to play, relax and
socialise.
Hill Shire has been identified as a priority growth area under the Minns Government’s reforms with
access to transport, including the new metro, services and amenities.
Under the terms of the land transfer, The Hills Shire Council will receive the land at no cost,
enabling it to finalise a masterplan and fund open space areas for the Caddies Creek Stage 2
proposal.
The proposal includes new soccer fields that will be the future home of the Hills Football
Development Academy, fostering local talent and boosting community participation in sport.
Within the Caddies Creek Stage 2 proposal, a new park has also been established under the Sydney
Metro line adjoining the Caddies Creek site with $4.3 million funding to transform the area provided
by the NSW Government’s Parks for People program.
The Beaumont Hills park features a BMX pump track, informal sports courts, a street-style skating
area, walking and cycling tracks, native landscaping, and features artwork by local artist and
resident Brad Eastman (AKA Beastman).
Member for Riverstone Warren Kirby said:
“Caddies Creek is an area of land the Hills community has been calling for a long time to be
activated as new green open space, and the Minns Government is making this a possibility.
“This land was first acquired by the Planning Ministerial Corporation 16 years ago as part of plans to
develop rail infrastructure. Having served that purpose, it is now right this land is utilised for the
benefit of the Hills community.
“We are transferring this land to The Hills Shire Council at no cost to help deliver more quality open
space for residents as housing expands in this fast-growing part of Sydney.”
The Hills Shire Council Mayor Dr Michelle Byrne said:
“I would like to thank the NSW Government for their transfer of this important parcel of land. This
initiative represents a pivotal step in Council’s vision to enhance Caddies Creek Reserve as a premier
football hub for our region,” Mayor Byrne said.
“We’re getting on with delivering Stage 2 to provide much-needed sporting facilities for our growing
population. The Hills has been set a housing target of 23,300 new homes over the next five years
and our population is projected to increase by 40,000-50,000 additional people.
“We’ve already accepted the tender for detailed designs for Stage Two and we are reviewing
expressions of interest for an onsite football partner.
“I look forward to continuing our collaborative efforts with the Government to get Stage 2 of
Caddies Creek built as soon as possible so that our growing community and football teams have a
place to play for generations to come.”
