The World Malayalee Council (WMC) Sydney Inc. has officially reaffirmed the date of its upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM), set to take place on April 13th, 2025. This confirmation follows the organisation’s recent Executive Council Meeting held on March 28th, 2025. Formal invitations, along with the agenda, have already been sent to WMC Sydney Members and Lifetime Members with voting rights.
A Vibrant Bridge Between Kerala and Australia
Established in 2018, WMC Sydney Inc. has grown to become a leading and vibrant platform for the Malayalee diaspora in Australia. The organisation plays a pivotal role in connecting the local Malayalee community with Kerala, India, serving as a “living bridge” to promote friendship, fellowship, and professional opportunities. It champions multicultural values and inclusiveness, aligning with Australia’s diverse social fabric.

Addressing a Serious Breach of Constitution and Misrepresentation
In light of its upcoming AGM and continued community engagement, WMC Sydney wishes to address a serious and disheartening concern that has recently surfaced. It has come to the attention of the Executive Council that a small faction of former WMC Sydney members has allegedly conducted a separate meeting and falsely announced a new set of office bearers under a misleading and unofficial name. This move constitutes a clear breach of the WMC Sydney Inc. Constitution, which is based on the NSW Fair Trading model with amendments.
Further exacerbating the issue, this group is reported to have misused the official WMC Sydney logo and social media platforms, including the Facebook page, without the consent of the official Executive Council. The Council is currently working with Facebook to restore rightful access to its page and ensure the protection of its digital assets and identity.
The WMC Sydney Executive Council has unanimously approved disciplinary actions against this faction and urges the broader community to refrain from engaging with any group or individuals falsely representing WMC Sydney.
Looking Ahead to a New Leadership and Continued Community Focus
As WMC Sydney looks toward the AGM on April 13th, the current leadership is preparing to hand over responsibilities to a new executive team, who will continue to build on the values of inclusivity, multiculturalism, and global connectivity.
The new leadership will focus on a dynamic calendar of events and initiatives that celebrate cultural diversity and foster professional mobility, business opportunities, women’s entrepreneurship, and deeper global diaspora engagement.
