A team of two expert drivers in Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.’s flagship model, the Scorpio-N, have successfully established a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDSTM record for the “Fastest crossing of the Simpson Desert by a production vehicle.” The Scorpio-N was recently introduced in Australia, and this accomplishment demonstrated the SUV’s exceptional capabilities and dependability as the team raced over the difficult terrain of the Simpson Desert at a record-breaking pace.
- Crosses 1100 parallel sand dunes across a stretch of 385 kms in 13 hours
- The Scorpio-N endured peak outside temperature recorded at 50 degree Celsius
Throughout the adventure, the Mahindra Scorpio-N demonstrated exceptional performance, overcoming 1100 sand dunes and weathering peak outdoor temperatures of 50 degrees Celsius in an impressive 13-hour period. Gene Corbett (Total Driver) and Ben Robinson (of 4WD Industries) co-drove the Scorpio-N as a crew of photographers and videographers captured the spectacular journey. Guinness World Records officials confirmed their journey broke all previous records.
The Simpson Desert is a captivating destination for motoring enthusiasts around the world, and the Scorpio-N’s achievement adds to its allure. The stunning scenery, ever-changing landscapes, and diverse flora and fauna make it an extraordinary experience. The record-breaking journey commenced at the crack of dawn in Birdsville and concluded at Alkaseltzer Bore, all completed within 13 hours. Along the 385 km long journey, the Scorpio-N overcame salt flats situated 20 meters above sea level, which presented a significant challenge due to high moisture content.
