Dubai, Sep 24 – India’s men’s cricket team has stormed into the final of the Asia Cup 2025 with a commanding 41-run win over Bangladesh at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. It was a performance that combined blistering batting and clinical bowling, leaving fans and critics alike in awe.

Opener Abhishek Sharma led the charge with a spectacular innings of 75 off just 37 balls, smashing 17 sixes in the tournament-a new record for the most sixes in a single Asia Cup edition. His destructive form helped India post a competitive 168/6 in 20 overs. Abhishek’s innings also propelled him past his mentor Yuvraj Singh, now holding the record for the most T20I innings by an Indian featuring five or more sixes.
Shubman Gill got India off to a flying start, racing to 72/0 in six overs alongside Abhishek. Bangladesh skipper Jaker Ali, after winning the toss, watched his team struggle to contain the opening duo. Shivam Dube’s promotion to number three did not work out as planned, leaving Suryakumar Yadav to join Abhishek in a quick-fire 29-run partnership. Despite a brilliant run-out by Rishad Hossain ending Abhishek’s innings, Hardik Pandya’s composed 38 ensured India crossed 165, even as the final overs saw a slowdown.

Bangladesh’s fightback was led by Saif Hassan, who top-scored with 69, though he was lucky on multiple occasions, surviving three dropped chances, including twice off Varun Chakravarthy’s over. Apart from Hassan and Parvez Hossain Emon (21), the Bangladeshi batting line-up struggled to keep pace with India’s spinners. Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy shared five wickets between them, while Jasprit Bumrah returned to form with 2/18, completing a dominant performance by the Indian bowling attack.
The final scores read: India 168/6 (Abhishek Sharma 75, Hardik Pandya 38; Rishad Hossain 2-27, Tanzim Hasan Sakib 1-29) defeated Bangladesh 127 all out (Saif Hassan 69, Parvez Hossain Emon 21; Kuldeep Yadav 3-18, Varun Chakravarthy 2-29) by 41 runs. With this win, India has booked its spot in the Asia Cup final, while Sri Lanka has been eliminated. Bangladesh and Pakistan now face off in a virtual knockout to determine the other finalist.
