Sydney, November 9, 2025 – What began as a small gathering thirteen years ago has now blossomed into a cherished tradition. The Pink Ribbon Breakfast 2025, held at SARVANNA Bhawan, once again filled the air with hope, resilience, and solidarity as survivors, supporters, and community leaders came together for a morning dedicated to breast cancer awareness and remembrance.

From Humble Beginnings to a Tradition of Strength

The breakfast was lovingly organised by four extraordinary women – Rekha Rajvanshi, Sue Advani, Anubha Varma, and Meena Mahanty – each a breast cancer survivor who has transformed her personal journey into a beacon of inspiration. They were joined by steadfast supporters Poornima Menon and Shweta Tewani, whose dedication to the cause added depth and warmth to the event.

Rekha Rajvanshi reflected on the journey of the initiative, saying, “This breakfast is not just about raising funds – it is about raising hope. It is about reminding every woman that she is not alone, and that together we can make a difference.”

A Message That Resonated

The single message that echoed throughout the gathering was clear and powerful: early detection saves lives. Survivor stories and heartfelt conversations reminded attendees of the importance of regular screenings, awareness, and community support.

Anubha Varma wore many hats that morning, including the iconic pink cowgirl hat, as she rallied support, arranged raffles, and even stepped in as an auctioneer to raise funds for the Zero Deaths from Breast Cancer by 2030 National Breast Cancer Foundation initiative. Her energy captured the joy of turning personal battles into collective action, blending resilience with determination.

Remembering Loved Ones

While the breakfast celebrated survival and strength, it also carried a poignant note of remembrance. The group honoured those who fought bravely but could not be with us today, including Joy Jadeja, who was fondly remembered for her courage and spirit. Her legacy served as a reminder of why the fight against breast cancer must continue with urgency and compassion.

Distinguished Guests

The event was further elevated by the presence of community leaders. Melissa Monterrio, CEO of CMRC, graced the occasion, lending her voice to the importance of community-driven initiatives in health advocacy. Aruna Chandrala, Labor Party member, also attended, underscoring the role of political and civic leadership in supporting awareness and research. Their attendance highlighted the significance of collective action across all sectors of society.

Closing Reflections

The emotional depth of the gathering underscored that the Pink Ribbon Breakfast is not only about fundraising. It is about celebrating sisterhood, amplifying awareness, and building a community where survivors and supporters stand shoulder to shoulder.

As the thirteenth edition of this initiative concluded, attendees left with hearts full of hope and determination, committed to spreading awareness, supporting one another, and working toward a future where breast cancer no longer claims lives.
