On 19th April, at the Oran Park Leisure Centre, over 1500 people witnessed the historic Launch of Vaisakhi for the first time ever in the Macarthur region.

Vaisakhi is the Harvest festival just that symbolises the celebration of courage, faith, and the birth of a spirit that refuses to bow – reminding us that true prosperity lies in unity, resilience, and rising stronger together.
The event was organised by Red Crown Events led by Amandeep Kaur and Manpreet Kaur under the leadership of Dr. Abha Suri, having the Mayor – Ms. Therese Fedeli inaugurating the festival.

Distinguished guests came from across Sydney to witness and support this historic moment – Chirag Joshi, Dr Naveen Shukla, Gitesh Agarwal, Bob Bajaj, Shefali Pall, Sharmily Mukherjee, Sukruti Narayanan, Cr Eva Campbell, Cr Peter Maclean, Binod Poudel, Arti Banga, Dimple Harteez, and Vishal Sharma. Their presence added great warmth and encouragement to this milestone celebration.
A special acknowledgement was made to the officers in uniform, Sergeant Daniel Scavone and Constable Akshay JaiKumar, whose presence reflected their ongoing commitment to community safety and engagement.

It was equally encouraging to see local businesses turn out in large numbers, taking the opportunity to showcase their offerings and connect with the community. Supporting local enterprise alongside cultural celebration added another meaningful dimension to the day.
For the very first time, a cultural event witnessed the engineering model of Australian built satellite – Waratah Seed for the very first time. This was an initiative of AIMERS Foundation to bring communities closer to Science and it was brought to life by Dr. Abha Suri.
The event running between 11amd and 5pm, witnessed performances presented by more than 125 performers that enthralled the audience.

A truly remarkable event – where businesses didn’t just sponsor but believed in the vision, where stallholders and performers brought energy and culture to life, and where the community came together as one vibrant force. Guided by inspiring leaders, it became more than an event – it was a powerful reflection of unity, purpose, and collective strength in action.
Events like this remind us of what makes Camden so unique – our diversity, our shared spirit, and our willingness to celebrate each other’s stories. The energy, the colour, the music, and the pride in Punjabi culture created an atmosphere that was both uplifting and deeply meaningful.
Desi Australia wishes Dr. Abha Suri and the entire team all success in bringing more events bringing communities closer.
