Sydney Sanskrit School is the first Sanskrit community language school in the Southern Hemisphere. This year the school is celebrating its 20th Anniversary. This is not only a remarkable milestone, but also a symbol representing the countless efforts the teachers are making for students to learn Sanskrit under the esteemed guidance and leadership of Mrs Meenakshi Srinivasan.

Sydney Sanskrit School is an elite school promoting Sanatana Dharma and helping many young students not only learn the Sanskrit language to the highest level but also stay connected with their Indian heritage and cultural background. Sanskrit is still accessible, and its relevance is still alive for future generations because of Sydney Sanskrit School.

The 2026 Paniniyam Grammar Camp invited students from Pre-Dwitheeya, Dwitheeya, and Tritiya to step into the world of Sanskrit with curiosity, confidence, and clarity. It is rooted in the divine brilliance of Sage Panini and his grammatical system. This camp provided an opportunity for young learners to delve into complex concepts by using engaging and interactive lesson structures. Through guided lessons and a supportive learning environment, students learnt a vast amount of knowledge, along with cracking a range of complex topics developed by the divine intuition of Panini.

The inauguration started with a blend of wisdom and tradition by Pandit Narendra Dave Ji from the Australian Hindu Clergy. He shared his experience on life values and the perpetual importance of Sanskrit.

The first day began with a refreshing and nutritious breakfast followed by learning basics around Jyotisha (Indian Astrology). Yoga Acharya Rajan Sharma Ji explained how Jyotisha is the ancient system from the Vedas that studies the positions of planets and stars at the time of birth to understand various life patterns. Further, the 4 Vedangas, 9 planets and their various governing energies were introduced. Students enriched their knowledge around various Bhavas (emotions), and the structure of the Hindu calendar. Afterwards, a state winning yoga teacher came and shared his knowledge with the students through various techniques to build concentration and focus during their yoga practices. The productive day was then wrapped up with some soulful aarti, bhajan, and a well-deserved sleep.

The second day commenced with some rejuvenating yoga followed by some grounding Maha Mantra meditation. The students dove straight into revising the challenging topic of Samasa (compound words) and learnt new concepts introduced by the teachers. Later, the students each participated in a task to compose and enact an advertisement for a given product in Sanskrit. The evening was mainly dedicated to the arts of Sanskrit, with an in-depth session introducing Bharatanatyam Shastram, Sthayi Bhava, Rasotpatti, nuances of Nayaka, and Ashtavidha Nayika. The students concluded the informative day with a hearty meal and a restorative night’s rest.

To kick things off on the third day, students delved into a pranayama session and a refreshing yoga session, followed by an interactive game on Chandas (poetic meter) designed by the teachers. They dove straight into Sandhi, where the students identified the Sandhi padas through translation and storytelling exercises. The evening was set in motion with some melodic bhajan and dramatic performances of the Nava Rasas. Mr. Karthik Srinivasan’s presentation on the “Power of 10” was stunning and its connection to “Aham Brahmasmi” was fascinating. The day was informative and filled with uplifting interactive games and exercises.

The final day began with learning sentence formations and the various components that can be added to them. A scrumptious lunch followed, after which the students packed up and prepared for the valedictory ceremony. The valedictory session kicked off with people recapping their experiences at the camp. We were privileged to welcome esteemed guests: Sewa Singh – President of Association of Haryanvi’s in Australia, Dr Sunil Vyas – Former President of United India Australia, Mrs Usha Garg – Assistant Governor of Rotary Club of Strathfield, Mr Bobby Singh – Yaadein Vision, and finally Jagdeesh Ram – Yaadein Vision. The students were then all presented with certificates of completion, as well as books and a Sydney Sanskrit School 20th Anniversary commemorative water bottle. After the valedictory session, refreshments were served to all parents and students. This event officially marked the conclusion of Paniniyam 2026, another successful year of learning and enhancing our Sanskrit grammatical skills. This year truly brought a new level of expertise, deeper learning and a soulful experience for students on their path to excelling in Sanskrit. Many students have overwhelmingly shared similar enriching experiences throughout the Paniniyam Camp 2026.
