India will take centre stage at this year’s International Cake Show Australia, with some of the country’s most accomplished cake artists preparing to compete, demonstrate and showcase their skills at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre from 31 July to 2 August 2026.
Celebrating its landmark 10th anniversary, the event will bring together competitors and artists from 28 countries for three days of edible art, live competitions, workshops and international cultural exchange. More than 15,000 visitors are expected to attend what has grown into the Southern Hemisphere’s largest cake, cookie and sugar-art event.
One of the major highlights will be the inaugural World Cake Sculpture Championship, where three leading artists from India will compete against teams from Australia, Japan and Taiwan.
Representing India under the banner of Team India – Sugar Sutra will be:

- Chef Samie Ramachandran
- Arati Mirji
The competition will take place on the Superstar Stage, hosted and led by acclaimed pastry chef and television personality Adriano Zumbo.
The artists will be challenged to create enormous, gravity-defying cake sculptures measuring up to two metres high. The live competition is expected to be one of the most exciting events of the weekend, combining artistic creativity, structural engineering and advanced cake-decorating techniques.
According to the event organisers, India’s strong participation reflects the close relationship between the International Cake Show Australia and the rapidly growing Indian cake-decorating community.
In addition to Team India’s involvement in the sculpture championship, many Indian competitors will participate across the 28 categories of the Ultimate Australian Cake Decorating Competition.
Indian Artists Featured Across the Event
Prominent Indian cake artist and television personality Chef Aditi Garware, founder of Sweet Boutique by Aditi, will appear as a key demonstrator and Make & Take teacher.
Her sessions will provide visitors with an opportunity to learn professional decorating techniques and gain practical experience under the guidance of an internationally recognised artist.
Indian designer Megha Kwatra Madan will also compete for the prestigious title of Global Haute Couture Wedding Cake Designer of the Year.
The competition will feature elaborate couture wedding cakes that combine fashion, fine art and advanced sugarcraft. Megha’s participation places Indian creativity alongside some of the world’s leading wedding cake designers.
The event’s official Indian ambassador, renowned Pune-based cake artist Prachi Dhabal Deb, had also been expected to participate but will unfortunately be unable to attend due to illness. Prachi is internationally celebrated for her intricate royal icing work and has played an important role in strengthening the show’s connection with India.
A Celebration of Multicultural Creativity
International Cake Show Australia CEO Joan McDermott said the event had evolved from a small industry gathering into one of the world’s leading cake and sugar-art celebrations.
“Today we’re welcoming the world’s greatest cake artists to Brisbane. Visitors walk in expecting cakes and leave feeling like they’ve experienced an interactive art gallery, a world expo, a live sporting event and a family festival all rolled into one,” she said.
“This year’s event is our biggest and most ambitious ever. It celebrates creativity, innovation, education and international cultural exchange.”
Organisers are encouraging members of Australia’s Indian community to attend the event and support the Indian competitors as they perform on the international stage.
With towering cake sculptures, couture wedding cakes, celebrity chefs, live demonstrations and hundreds of competition entries, this year’s event will provide a unique opportunity to celebrate the talent and creativity of Indian artists in Australia.
