Nominations have officially opened for the 2026 Australian Sikh Awards for Excellence (ASAE), a national initiative recognising the outstanding achievements and contributions of the Australian Sikh community across a wide range of fields. The announcement was made by Australian Attorney-General and Federal Member for Greenway Michelle Rowland.

Established by Sikh Youth Australia, the awards honour individuals who have made meaningful contributions to Australian society through leadership, business, community service, arts, sport and professional excellence. The 2026 awards ceremony will culminate in a gala dinner on 29 August 2026, with nominations closing on 14 June 2026.
Michelle Rowland, who has supported the initiative since its launch, praised the Australian Sikh community for its significant contribution to the country’s multicultural identity and economic growth. Having attended both the inaugural awards ceremony in 2023 and the 2024 event, she described the platform as an important way of recognising individuals whose work often strengthens communities quietly behind the scenes.
In her statement, Ms Rowland highlighted the Sikh values of seva, equality and hard work, saying these principles continue to positively shape Australian society. She said Sikh Australians contribute across many sectors, from business and innovation to volunteering and public service, helping make Australia stronger and more inclusive.
The Australian Sikh Awards for Excellence recognises achievements across eight major categories including Agriculture, Arts and Culture, Business and Enterprise, Community Service, Professions, Sports, Sikh Woman of the Year and Sikh Youth of the Year. Nominations are open to individuals from every Australian state and territory.

Representing Sikh Youth Australia, Satwant Calais OAM said the awards celebrate the enduring Sikh values of resilience, equality and uplifting the wider community. He noted that the initiative continues to showcase inspiring stories of leadership and contribution that benefit Australians from all backgrounds.
Over recent years, the awards have evolved into one of Australia’s leading platforms celebrating Sikh excellence and multicultural achievement. The initiative has recognised entrepreneurs, young leaders, community advocates, professionals and cultural contributors whose work has created lasting impact across Australian society.
Organisers are encouraging members of the public to nominate deserving individuals whose dedication, leadership and service continue to inspire local communities. Further information about award categories, eligibility criteria and the nomination process is available through the official Australian Sikh Awards for Excellence website.
