The Indian High Commission, in partnership with the Association of Haryanvis in Australia (AHA), celebrated the International Gita Mahotsav 2025 on 28 November 2025 at the Federal Parliament House in Canberra.

The event was attended by High Commissioners and Ambassadors from several friendly countries, including Georgia, Mauritius, the Netherlands, Russia, Ukraine and Vietnam. Dr. Dalbir Ahlawat of Macquarie University delivered a talk on the Bhagvad Gita’s relevance in contemporary geopolitics, drawing parallels between current global tensions and the moral dilemmas faced by Arjuna, and highlighting how the Gita can serve as a guide for modern leadership.

The High Commissioner H.E. Shri. Gopal Baglay spoke about the enduring global significance of the Bhagavad Gita and its message of duty, harmony and righteous action. He also acknowledged the important role of the Indian community in strengthening India–Australia relations.

Mr. Sewa Singh, National President of AHA, briefed the audience on the Bhagavad Gita outreach activities conducted across Australia, including the international competitions held earlier this month. The winners of these competitions were felicitated by the High Commissioner. The evening also featured a vibrant cultural programme, with dancers and performers presenting scenes inspired by the teachings of Lord Krishna.
