Granville, NSW – On 29 July 2025, the Rotary Club of Granville transformed an ordinary evening into a celebration of courage, sacrifice, and community spirit with the “Police Officer of the Year 2025” Awards (POOTY Awards). These Awards were made to officers serving in the State Operations and Emergency Management Command. More than just an awards ceremony, this event was a heartfelt tribute to the tireless dedication of New South Wales Police officers—our everyday heroes who risk everything to keep our communities safe.

“Police officers are the guardians of our streets, the comforters in times of crisis, and the embodiment of selflessness,” said Lyn , co-chair of the POOTY Awards. “Tonight, we pause not only to recognize individual excellence but to say ‘thank you’ on behalf of every citizen who sleeps soundly because of their bravery.”

What started as a modest initiative has blossomed into a landmark gathering: 192 guests and 44 police nominees drawn from every corner of the NSW State Operations and Emergency Management Command stood shoulder to shoulder, sharing stories of resilience, bravery, and humanity. The atmosphere buzzed with camaraderie, pride, and a shared conviction that this celebration must continue year after year.

Joe Allan, co-chair alongside Lyn, reflected on the evening’s impact: “I’ve never witnessed such genuine appreciation. This event has shown us what can happen when communities and law enforcement unite in gratitude.” He also acknowledged the very generous sponsors of the event – Parramatta Leagues Club, Skyfuel, Teledyndeflir and Busways along with District Governor – Renga Rajan for his leadership and support.

The various Categories for the Awards were:

  1. Role Model for Others
  2. Administration Officer of the year
  3. Outstanding Team Leder / Leadership
  4. Significant Contribution to the community
  5. Consistent High Performance
  6. Demonstrated Courage and Devotion to Duty
  7. State Operations and Emergency Management Command Police officer of the year.
