30 November 2025 | Lakemba, Sydney — The DAWA Cup 2025 concluded at Perry Park after two exciting Sundays of cricket that drew nearly 900 enthusiastic supporters and showcased outstanding talent, sportsmanship and unity within the community.

The tournament reached its peak with a gripping grand final where Shahi Stars claimed victory over Sydney Sunrisers. The match delivered disciplined bowling, sharp fielding and powerful stroke play, keeping spectators on edge until the final overs. Shahi Stars proudly lifted the DAWA Cup trophy along with the $5,000 winners’ prize, while Sydney Sunrisers — celebrated for their consistency and spirit throughout the competition — earned the $2,500 runners-up award.

This year’s event was elevated by the generous support of community partners. Addab and Pista House Restaurant provided meals to all players and spectators, showcasing the hospitality the DAWA Cup has become known for. Salman White Goods donated around 1,500 water bottles, keeping everyone hydrated across both match days.

Organisers expressed their gratitude to the Canterbury–Bankstown Council for its continued support, as well as to the umpires, scorers, volunteers and operations staff whose dedication ensured the seamless running of the tournament.

The closing ceremony was attended by several notable dignitaries, including:

Also in attendance were representatives from ATSA (including Founder Jaypal Reddy), Al Hasanath, IIMA, along with numerous community volunteers. Warm wishes were conveyed on behalf of Hon. Tony Burke, who was unable to attend due to parliamentary commitments.

A special tribute was dedicated to DAWA President Mohammed Mustafa, whose committed leadership and coordination were instrumental to the tournament’s success. Significant contributions also came from DAWA Trustees Syed Jamsheed, Khaja Riyas Ul Hassan, Hameed Ghouri and Hyder Khan, as well as the DAWA Core Team: Asif Warsi (Vice President), Syed Raouf (General Secretary), Mohammed Arif, Syed Azam, Mohammed Imtiaz and Syed Raza.
Public Relations Officer Hyder Khan and Fazal Gh were additionally recognised for strengthening communication and community engagement.

Beyond the competition, the DAWA Cup served as a powerful platform promoting physical wellbeing, community health, and the importance of sport in fostering confident, active youth.

Organisers extended heartfelt thanks to sponsors including Faisal (Al Faisal Mandi), Masood (AADAAB Restaurant) and Salman Faisal & Shuja (Pista House) for generously sponsoring meals for the event, highlighted by their signature biryani.

As the 2025 edition comes to a close, the DAWA Cup stands once again as a shining example of how sport can bring communities together, inspire pride and strengthen connections for the seasons ahead.
