Fifteen-year-old Samar Partap Singh has reached a major milestone in Victorian cricket, earning selection in Prahran’s First XI for the opening round of the 2026–27 Premier Cricket season and entering the club’s record books.

The young leg-spinner and middle-order batter is set to make his Victorian Premier Cricket First XI debut for Prahran, continuing a rapid rise that has taken him from community cricket in Melbourne’s west to senior-level competition while still only 15.
Singh’s selection follows an impressive season in the Dowling Shield, where he finished as the competition’s leading wicket-taker with 21 wickets at an average of 12.48. He also contributed 208 runs at 29.71, demonstrating his value as an all-round cricketer.
One of his standout performances came against Frankston Peninsula, when Singh struck 70 runs from just 35 deliveries and also claimed four wickets. His ability to contribute with both bat and ball has been a major part of his progression through Melbourne’s competitive junior and senior cricket pathways.
His development has not been limited to club cricket. Singh represented Victoria at the national Under-15 championships in February, averaging 37 with the bat and 10.36 with the ball. His performances earned him recognition as the leading player of the tournament.
Cricket Victoria further recognised his progress in July by selecting him in the Victorian Metro Under-17 Male Emerging Players squad for the 2026–27 season. The selection placed the teenager among a group of players being developed for higher-level representative cricket.
Singh has also gained valuable experience playing senior cricket ahead of his Premier Cricket opportunity. He played First XI cricket for Yarraville last season, having already stepped into senior competition at an unusually y
