The Republic of Fiji has appointed Dr Seetha Ramaiah Boddapati as its Honorary Consul General in Hyderabad, with jurisdiction covering Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, in a move aimed at strengthening trade, investment and bilateral cooperation between Fiji and India.

Effective October 2026, Dr Ram’s appointment is expected to support greater engagement between businesses, investors and institutions in the two countries, with a focus on economic diplomacy, healthcare cooperation and strategic partnerships.
The appointment provides an opportunity to deepen Fiji-India relations by encouraging Indian investment in Fiji and expanding collaboration across key sectors. Dr Ram will also work to strengthen people-to-people connections and facilitate business engagement between the two countries.
Focus on Trade and Investment
In his new role, Dr Ram will focus on promoting trade and investment opportunities between Fiji and the three southern Indian states under his jurisdiction.
His responsibilities include facilitating business and institutional partnerships, encouraging investment flows and building stronger links between companies and organisations in India and Fiji.
The appointment also seeks to position Fiji as a gateway to the Pacific for Indian businesses and investors, opening opportunities for commercial engagement and regional partnerships.
Healthcare Cooperation and Strategic Partnerships
Healthcare cooperation is another priority, alongside wider economic and institutional collaboration. Stronger engagement could help facilitate partnerships between organisations in both countries and encourage the exchange of expertise.
India and Fiji have existing links in healthcare, education, skills development and trade. Expanding these connections could provide opportunities for businesses, professionals and institutions to work together in areas of shared interest.
Dr Ram’s mandate includes developing strategic partnerships that support long-term cooperation and strengthen bilateral ties.
Dr Ram Brings Entrepreneurial and International Experience
A serial entrepreneur and alumnus of Guntur Medical College, Dr Ram brings experience in entrepreneurship, government relations, international trade and global partnerships.
His background is expected to support efforts to connect businesses and institutions, identify investment opportunities and promote stronger commercial relationships between Fiji and India.
The role also offers a platform to build relationships across government, industry and community networks in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
Strengthening Fiji – India Relations
The appointment comes amid continuing engagement between Fiji and India across trade, healthcare, education, skills development and other areas of cooperation.
Fiji maintains a High Commission in New Delhi and honorary consular representation in India. Its diplomatic engagement supports connections between the two countries and helps facilitate bilateral cooperation.
With Dr Ram taking on the role in Hyderabad, the focus will be on developing new business opportunities, attracting investment and strengthening institutional and people-to-people links across the three southern Indian states.
The appointment is intended to contribute to a closer Fiji-India partnership, with trade, investment and healthcare cooperation among the key areas of focus.
