Sydney is gearing up for one of its busiest festive weekends, with the iconic Sydney Fish Market preparing to welcome tens of thousands of visitors this Easter. The newly opened harbourside destination is expected to draw more than 60,000 people on Good Friday alone, marking its biggest trading day to date.

Across the Easter long weekend, demand is set to soar, with an estimated 650 tonnes of seafood expected to be sold. This includes around 100 tonnes of prawns and close to one million oysters, reflecting the strong tradition of seafood feasting during Easter celebrations in Australia.

To meet the surge in visitors, fishmongers and retailers will open as early as 5:00am on Good Friday, ensuring customers can access fresh produce throughout the day. The extended hours are designed to manage crowds while maintaining a smooth shopping experience for families and visitors.

Beyond seafood, the market is offering a vibrant Easter experience with a mix of gourmet food, specialty retailers and festive activities. Visitors can explore a range of premium offerings, from fresh flowers and curated Easter hampers to artisan desserts and limited-edition treats created специально for the occasion.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, the Easter Bunny will make special appearances across the weekend, creating a family-friendly environment for visitors of all ages. The market’s waterfront setting, combined with entertainment and food experiences, is expected to make it a standout destination during the holiday period.

More than 100 seafood varieties will be available, including favourites like prawns and oysters alongside seasonal options such as Yellowtail Kingfish, Ocean Perch and squid. Restaurants within the precinct are also preparing for increased demand, offering everything from casual dining to premium seafood experiences with harbour views.

The surge in visitors comes as the Sydney Fish Market continues to gain popularity, having already attracted over one million visitors within its first two months of opening. Its growing reputation as a food and cultural destination has also earned global recognition, further boosting interest among locals and tourists.

Authorities are encouraging visitors to use public transport, with convenient train, light rail and bus connections available. Planning ahead is expected to be key, as large crowds are anticipated throughout the long weekend.
